Roads Less Traveled: The Life Design Project

Created by Tanner

Countries Visited Iceland Greenland

Tour Duration 15 days

Tour Description

Our world-sharing adventure will be spent experiencing the cultures in some of the most unknown parts of the world in Iceland and Greenland.

This adventure will be completely documented with audio, video, and text on the internet.

Our manners will be tested and our lives will be expanded.

Iceland: Land of The Least Understood
Iceland will be where we spend the majority of our exploration of The Roads Less Traveled Extended.

During our exploration of Iceland, we will meet up with the Icelandic band, Sigur Rós, for a short interview.

While in the area of Ísafjörður, we will explore the remains of Viking farms at Hornstrandir Nature Reserve in the Westfjords.

After swimming in the Blue Lagoon, we will learn about the importance of Saltfish for the economy of Iceland in the Icelandic Saltfish Museum in Grindavík.

We will visit Hallgrímskirkja, followed by reporting on the "Nightlight Capital of the World" in Reykjavík.

We will experience the Imagine Peace Tower.

31 miles east of we will immerse ourselves in the culture of Iceland at the Thingvellir National Park. We will also experience First Fissure Snorkeling in Lake Silfra. Also in this area, we will visit Alpingi, the original site of the longest running parliament in the world and it’s also where the North-American and European continental shelf plates are being torn apart.

While on the archipelago of Vestmannaeyjar, we will learn about about Iceland's Wildest Party and oldest festival Þjóðhátíð (Thjodhatid, "National Festival"). If we are lucky enough and the festival is during the time of our adventure, we can partake in the festival.

Hopefully we can meet up with someone from Explorers’ Corner for a kayaking and hiking adventure under the midnight sun (24 hour light in the summer).

If the time is right, we will experience the magic of The Northern Lights.

Greenland: Kalaallit Nunaat - the Land of People
We will live the life of an Inuit, eating reindeer, smoked halibut and salmon, and also whale blubbler (why not? probably would never get the chance again).

Nuuk, the largest town in Greenland with 15,000 people, will be our spot to live the life of the Greenlandic.

We will explore buildings as old as two centuries at Qaqortoq.
